Op 25 en 26 oktober vindt in de Westerunie te Amsterdam een bijzonder comedyevenement plaats: Live From Amsterdam. Tijdens deze 2 dagen zullen 6 comedyshows plaatsvinden met in totaal 24 steengoede comedians uit de USA, Canada, UK, Ierland, Zuid-Afrika en Australië. Alle shows zullen gepresenteerd worden door de Canadese comedian Russell Peters. Peters is immens populair over heel de wereld. Zo speelt hij regelmatig voor zalen van meer dan 15.000 man (bijvoorbeeld Toronto, Sydney, Madison Square Garden in New York en de O2 Arena in Londen). Volgens Forbes zat hij de afgelopen twee jaar bij de top 10 best verdienende comedians ter wereld. Het is uitzonderlijk dat een comedian van dit formaat in een kleine zaal in Nederland staat.
Van deze shows zullen TV-opnames gemaakt worden. De serie zal later worden uitgezonden op onder meer de Amerikaanse zender HBO/Showtime, die ook series als Curb Your Enthousiasm, Entourage en Flight Of The Conchords produceerde.

All shows will be hosted by Canadian comedian Russell Peters. Peters is popular all over the world, playing venues up to 15.000 capacity (Toronto, Sydney, Madison Square Garden in New York and the O2 Arena in London). He was ranked by Forbes as one of the top ten highest grossing comics in the U.S. in 2009 and 2010. It’s quite unusual a comedian like Russell Peters is playing such a small venue in The Netherlands.
The shows will be recorded for television. Later on, the shows will be broadcasted on HBO/Showtime in the USA. This channel has also successfully produced series like Curb Your Enthousiasm, Entourage and Flight Of The Conchords.
